In 1992 Coal Services addressed the Industries' very special needs and launched the first meeting of ‘The International Coal, Coke and Carbon Club’ held in Hong Kong in September of 1993.
Originally called the ‘Carbon Club’, but renamed in 2003 as the International Coal, Coke & Carbon Forum to fully comply with Anti-Trust laws and reflect the new meeting’s structure and attendees of the forum.
Attendees and Structure
Participation is from the senior executives representing the Industries' major coal buying companies, including coke and steel, electricity, cement & industrial customers. Coal exporting producers, pet coke, iron ore and selected trading and shipping companies participate.
The International Coal, Coke & Carbon Forum is in full compliance with anti-trust laws following extensive discussion with the EU anti trust unit in Brussels and Coal Services Lawyers and Legal team in 2003. (For the full code of conduct contact the office directly).
Currently the attendee list has been fully committed for 9 years. However should you wish to partake, please email your application to Niamh Fay at iccc@coalservices.com.
Should you wish to verify the value of the ICCC, we will provide you with a number of attendees known to you, who will advise on the value of the ICCC.
The ICCC operates a steering committee from amongst the industry and your application will be submitted to them for discussion.
ICCC Mission Statement
“It is the intention of the organiser, Coal Services International and the attendees of the International Coal, Coke & Carbon Forum to create an environment for open and frank discussion. The International Coal, Coke & Carbon Forum represents and fully encourages the protection of civil liberties and the individual right to free speech. Coal Services International will provide data that is available in the common domain, which will be the basis for free speech involving buyers, sellers and traders including views of the supply/demand situation. This data will also assist in assessing matters for the International trade of Coal and Carbon products.”
History & Making
For those with a long memory, the ICCC was the brain child of a distinguished group of industry legends. During a meeting at the Australian Coal Conference in the Gold Coast in 1990 a group of coal buyers and sellers sold the idea of the ICCC to Mark Hurst.
This press gang group included Mr Kai Bograd, Mr Geoff Lill, Mr Jim O’Neill, Mr Katsushige Tanaka, Mr Tadahiro Yoshida, Mr Wally Scrage, Mr Hans Smith, Mr Mark Joseph, Mr Barrie Cook, & Mr Jim Lessing.
The wish was for an environment where buyers and sellers could meet in a relaxed atmosphere, to discuss openly the most pressing issues facing the industry at that time.
In 1993 the Carbon Forum meeting was launched in Hong Kong and since that time has been held annually at the following venues and has enjoyed the local backing of the Host Companies listed below:-

Those attendees who have participated at the ICCC over a number of years will vouch to the value. Most will especially recount the memories that have been built up over the years and certainly state that it has helped develop very strong relationships between buyers and sellers alike.
